Mathematical Sciences Institute Belagavi is a mathematics research institute dedicated to promoting mathematical thinking, problem solving, and early research exposure among students. We are currently looking to identify talented undergraduate students who may be interested in participating in an internship with our institute.

Dear Professor / Internship Coordinator,
Greetings from Mathematical Sciences Institute Belagavi.

We are a mathematics research institute working on mathematical research, problem solving, and mentoring young mathematicians. We are currently looking to identify talented undergraduate students who may be interested in participating in an internship with our institute.

Through this collaboration, we would like to invite your department to nominate motivated undergraduate students (typically in their 2nd–3rd year) who have a strong interest in mathematics and problem solving.

Internship Highlights

• Research exposure in mathematics.

Proposed Internship Program in detail

Program Name: Undergraduate Mathematics Research Internship.

Target Students:
• BSc Mathematics (1st–3rd year)
• BSc Mathematics BSc Mathematics + Computer Science
• Integrated MSc Mathematics students

Duration: 1 year
Stipend of Rs. 2000 per month for eligible candidates​
Mode: Online / Hybrid / In-person

Internship Activities

Selected students will participate in:

1. Mathematical Problem Solving
Students work on structured problems in areas such as:
• Number theory
• Combinatorics
• Graph theory
• Mathematical puzzles and exploration

2. Mini Research Projects
Students explore topics such as:
• Patterns in number theory
• Mathematical modeling
• Algorithmic thinking
• Exploratory mathematics

3. Research Skills Training
Students learn:
• Mathematical writing
• Proof techniques
• Reading research papers (introductory level)

4. Seminars and Talks
Weekly seminars by researchers introducing modern mathematical ideas.

Selected interns will work on guided projects designed to strengthen mathematical thinking, proof techniques, and research skills.
